Dengue Cases in Bihar Decline as Temperatures Drop, Promising Recovery | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: With temperatures coming down, the number of dengue cases is witnessing a declining trend in the state. The data shows nearly half the decrease in average daily cases reported in October compared to now.
For instance, from October 15 to October 20, a total of 1,258 dengue cases were officially registered across Bihar. For the same duration from November 15 to November 20, the number dropped to 638 cases. Even in Patna district specifically, the decline is evident. While 520 cases were registered in Patna over five days in October (15–20), the figure decreased to 305 for the same period in November.
Former superintendent of Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, said the number of dengue cases coming to him has also decreased.
Dr Shubhash Chandra, the district vector-borne disease control officer, attributed the decline to lower temperatures. “With the decrease in temperature, dengue also decreases and now a declining trend is seen. In a week or so, it will further come down and only sporadic cases will be reported. The number this year was less compared to the previous year,” he said.
According to state health department data, 9,334 dengue cases were reported in Bihar this year as of November 21 with 15 official deaths. Historical data from the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control reveals that Bihar recorded 20,224 dengue cases with 74 deaths in 2013 and 13,972 cases with 32 deaths in 2022.
