Bihar Governor Proposes Entrepreneur Development Cells in Universities | Patna News – Times of India

Bhagalpur: Governor-cum-chancellor of universities Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar attended ‘academic senate’ meeting of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University on Thursday at the Sunderwati Mahila College here. The meeting focused on advancing the academic environment of the university and its affiliated institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Arlekar stressed the importance of adhering to the academic calendar to regularise sessions and achieve academic excellence. He also highlighted the need for quality improvements in research across various disciplines.
Arlekar proposed the establishment of an ‘entrepreneur development cell‘ (EDC) at TMBU and other universities in Bihar for the benefit of students. “Soon, a meeting will be held for the development of EDCs at universities. Through EDCs, the universities will be able to motivate the students to develop and enhance their skills in their respective areas of interest. Thanks to this initiative, we can turn the talented students into entrepreneurs and create opportunities for employment for others instead of themselves standing in the queues for job interviews,” he said.
Arlekar added that academic institutions should serve as tools to nurture entrepreneurship among students with EDCs acting as facilitators.
When the discussion shifted to the promotion of TMBU teachers, Arlekar clarified that university officials are empowered to address the matter independently without seeking permission from the chancellor’s office. He asked TMBU officials to resolve teachers’ grievances and issue necessary notifications to the authorities concerned regarding promotions.
TMBU vice-chancellor Jawahar Lal highlighted the university’s history, academic achievements and ongoing research and developmental activities.
The academic senate saw participation from TMBU teachers, university officials and senate members. TMBU public relations officer and S M College faculty member Deepak Kumar Dinkar said the chancellor’s presence marked a significant moment for the university.
