Kendriya Vidyalaya Teacher Arrested for Assaulting Class 9 Student | Bhubaneswar News
Keonjhar: A teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Keonjhar has been booked for allegedly assaulting a Class 9 student, police said on Tuesday. The case was registered at Town Police Station following a complaint by the student’s father.
The accused has been charged under Sections 126(2), 115(2) and 296 of the Bharatiya NyayaSanghita for illegal detention, beating and use of filthy language, respectively. Additional charges under Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000, have also been imposed.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on Monday when the teacher allegedly hit the student from behind without provocation. “My son is unable to stand or walk properly due to the injuries,” the father stated in his complaint. He further alleged that the teacher had repeatedly molested his son and used abusive language, causing the student severe mental distress.
Inspector in-charge of Town police station, Srikanta Sahu, said an investigation is underway. “We have visited the school premises and spoken to the teachers and students regarding the incident,” he added.
When contacted, school principal Sushanta Sahu said, “We are cooperating with the police investigation and appropriate action will be taken based on their findings.”
Police have assured a thorough investigation into the matter and further action will be determined based on the probe’s outcome.
