Bhagalpur: Banka district police have initiated investigations into severe thrashing of an elderly woman over suspicion of practising black magic at remote Kaloni village in Shambhuganj area.
Victim Sanmani Devi (65), a widow, refuting the charges of practising witchcraft, lodged a written complaint on Monday evening against four people from the same village for physical assault and vandalizing her house. She has alleged that her son was also thrashed by the four, including Gagan Yadav, Dayalu Yadav and Siyaram Yadav.

Shambhuganj police station SHO Mantu Kumar said that the victim and her son have submitted a written complaint against the four residents. “We are cross-examining the neighbours.”
Banka superintendent of police Satya Prakash on Tuesday said the Shambhuganj police have been ordered to make an in-depth investigation into the incident.
