Vigilance Raids Uncover Massive Assets Linked to Dhenkanal Sub-Collector | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Monday searched the houses and office of Kamakhyanagar (Dhenkanal district) sub-collector Narayan Nayak, a Class-I officer, in connection with a disproportionate assets case. The sleuths conducted searches at multiple locations in Khurda, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj districts.
So far, vigilance officers have unearthed an under-construction triple-storey building at Jharpada here, a single-storey building at the same location, a three-storey building at Kuansa and a two-storey building at Gelpur, both in Bhadrak district.
Other places where the vigilance conducted searches include Nayak’s office chamber at Kamakhyanagar, govt quarters, parental house at Kapagaria, Basudevpur, a relative of Nayak at Barunai, Bhadrak, and a house of his associate at Joragadia in Bhandaripokhari.
“Nayak is in possession of at least 13 high value plots, of which six are located at prime locations in Bhubaneswar, six in Bhadrak, and one in Pipili, Puri. We have so far found gold weighing 250 grams, Rs 1.48 lakh of cash, and other deposits and investments (which are being assessed). Valuation of buildings and plots is being done to ascertain the percentage of disproportionate income,” a vigilance officer said.
According to vigilance, Nayak is a 1997-batch Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer. He first joined as an officer in the settlement office in Kalahandi and then as an additional tehsildar at the same place for five years. He served as BDO in Khariar, Dasarathpur, and Balianta between 2014 and 2023. He was promoted to OAS (SB) cadre in 2021 and OAS (S) in 2023.
The searches were conducted by seven deputy superintendent of police-rank officers, three inspectors, eight ASIs and other supporting staff on the basis of warrants issued by a special vigilance judge in Bhubaneswar.
