Patna: A woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour at a village in Jamui district on Sunday early morning.
The man allegedly barged into the woman’s house, held her hostage, and committed the crime. A large number of people gathered at her house after hearing the screams of the woman and caught the alleged accused. They thrashed the man, but he was later released by his family members.
The woman filed a complaint at the local police station regarding the matter. However, the police claimed that both were having an illicit relationship.
According to local police, the incident occurred around 4am. The 28-year-old woman woke up in the morning and went outside to attend nature’s call. In the meantime, the accused silently entered her house and hid under the bed. When the woman returned to her room and went to sleep, the accused silently locked the room from inside and committed the crime.
“When he was about to leave the room, the woman started screaming loudly for help. The family members and the local people gathered at the spot and caught the accused,” said local SHO, Vikash Kumar Singh.
The SHO further said the woman is married and has two children. The accused is a 30-year-old unmarried person. At the time of the incident, the woman’s husband, her children, mother-in-law and father-in-law were also present at home.
“The preliminary investigations and inquiry from the local villagers revealed that the woman and the accused had an old illicit affair. The woman was pressuring the accused to marry her, but he refused. On the day of the incident, the woman called the accused to her home and made allegations of rape. A rape complaint has been lodged at the police station. We are waiting for the medical examination report of the woman to confirm the rape.
