Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards workplace inclusivity, deputy chief minister Pravati Parida on Saturday inaugurated sanitary napkin vending and disposal machines at Loka Seva Bhawan.
The facilities, installed at strategic locations, including the second floor ladies’ toilet complex near the Central Lift Lobby and the Ladies’ Common Room, aim to enhance hygiene facilities for women employees and visitors.
“This initiative reflects our govt’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace,” said Parida. The govt plans to extend these facilities to all ladies’ washrooms in the building.
Parida accompanied by development commissioner Anu Garg, principal secretary of housing & urban development Usha Padhee, and principal secretary of women & child development Shubha Sharma, also conducted a surprise inspection of the building’s crèche facility.
During her visit, Parida interacted with female employees, addressing their concerns about workplace facilities. The inspection of the crèche revealed the need for expanded facilities, with a proposal for larger space currently under consideration.
“We are committed to addressing both the physical and mental well-being of our women employees,” Parida added, emphasizing the govt’s focus on creating a healthy and safe work environment. The installation of these facilities marks a progressive step in the govt’s efforts to improve workplace infrastructure and support for women employees.
