Patna: Now, with most political parties going into election mode, after a brief lull, Plurals Party chief Pushpam Priya has once again joined the poll bandwagon by beginning her political campaign from Bodh Gaya. At the ‘land of Buddha,’ she launched the party’s “Mahayan Yatra,” aimed at bringing a change in the govt in the state.
Shortly after launching her yatra on Friday, she visited several dalit villages in Gaya and sought people’s support to bring a change in the govt. On Saturday, she visited Jehanabad and met villagers as well as party workers.
“I appeal to the villagers to lend their full support to change the present govt in the state. They must not miss the opportunity to cast their votes,” Priya told the mediapersons during the yatra on Saturday. She said her objective is to regain the “lost glory” of the state.
Stating that Bihar still lags behind in many fields, she said there was a lot of rhetoric and slogans, but now is the time to seek details of parties’ performance. “I will ask both—NDA and Grand Alliance—to give details of their work,” she said, alleging that most parties get active just ahead of the elections.
Priya launched her yatra from Bodh Gaya, against the backdrop of Jan Suraaj’s Prashant Kishor starting his yatra from Champaran, where Mahatma Gandhi had launched his Satyagraha movement, while RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav chose Samastipur, the birthplace of veteran socialist leader Karpoori Thakur.
Jan Suraaj, after contesting the bypolls to four seats in the state, has also fielded its candidate for the byelection to the Tirhut Graduate constituency of the Bihar Legislative Council.
On the other hand, disgruntled BJP leader and former Union Minister RCP Singh has also formed his new party, Aap Sabki Awaz (ASA), and declared that he would contest next year’s assembly elections.
