Dog Poisoning Investigation: Carcass Exhumed in Neighbour Dispute | Bhubaneswar News
Rourkela: Local police exhumed a dog’s carcass on Saturday afternoon, 10 days after its death, following allegations of poisoning in a neighbourhood dispute here.
The investigation began after Urbasi Panda (45) filed a complaint against her neighbours — Siba Pradhan (38) and his wife, Pratima (35) — accusing them of poisoning her dog on Nov 10. The complaint, lodged at Sector-15 police station on Friday night, also included allegations of verbal abuse and threats against Panda’s family.
“The collected samples will be sent to a scientific laboratory to ascertain the cause of death,” said investigating officer Sunil Dash. “Further action will be taken once we receive the report,” he added.
A police team, accompanied by a veterinary surgeon, conducted the exhumation and post-mortem at the burial site. Samples were collected for forensic analysis before the dog was interred.
In a counter-complaint filed on Saturday afternoon, Pratima accused Panda and her family of abuse and threats. Sector-15 police have registered both cases and are conducting parallel investigations.
