Patna: Newly launched Jan Suraaj, backed by poll strategist Prashant Kishor, on Friday announced the name of Dr Vinayak Gautam for the bypoll to Tirhut Graduate constituency of the Bihar Legislative Council.
A radiologist, Dr Gautam’s father, Ram Kumar Singh, represented this seat three times in the past, a Jan Suraaj member.
On the other hand, the JD(U) has fielded a fresh face, spokespersons Abhishek Jha, from this seat, while the RJD has given a ticket to Gopi Kishan.
The bypoll was necessitated as it fell vacant following the election of JD(U) MLC Devesh Chandra Thakur to the Lok Sabha from Sitamarhi this year.
Polling at the Tirhut Graduate Constituency, which represents graduate voters in the region, is scheduled for December 5, while the counting of votes will take place on December 9.
