MUMBAI: An inebriated individual attacked and verbally abused Oshiwara police station senior inspector during his night patrol on Tuesday. Senior Inspector Manoj Gujar (47) was travelling towards Galaxy Apartment to check security measures near actor Salman Khan’s residence when the intoxicated suspect, Rakesh Chopra (41), obstructed his official vehicle. Bandra police later arrested Chopra for assaulting a public servant.
The confrontation intensified when the inspector and his driver, Vikas Sutar, asked Chopra to move away around 1.15 am in Bandra (W). “The inspector during night patrol visited Bandra police station before heading to the actor’s address when the incident occurred,” said an officer of Bandra police station.
Gujar said in his complaint: “The accused got violent and hurled abuses. I stepped out of the vehicle and asked him to move. Enraged, he tried to punch me which I ducked.”
