Patna: PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit a remote village in Jamui district on Friday to celebrate the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas‘, the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, who is fondly called “Bhagwan” by the tribal communities of the Chhota Nagpur plateau.
The PM will launch projects worth Rs8,500 crore, deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said. He said the Centre, on the request of CM Nitish Kumar, has provided Rs8,814.80 crore under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25, compared to only Rs843 crore in 2020-21.
This is the PM’s second visit to Bihar this week after he laid foundation stone for AIIMS in Darbhanga and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth Rs12,100 crore in the state on Wednesday.
Jamui shares its borders with Jharkhand, where first phase of assembly elections was held on Wednesday.
Deputy CM Choudhary, who along with BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal and other party leaders visited Jamui and took part in the cleanliness drive on Thursday, said PM Modi would launch 25 kinds of services for the tribal people, including power connection, houses and roads, through 18 different departments.
Union minister for tribal affairs Jual Oram, who was in Jamui on Thursday to oversee preparations for the PM’s visit, told reporters that PM will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects.
He said the PM will also inaugurate two ‘Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums and two Tribal Research Institutes to preserve the rich history and heritage of the communities. Besides, the PM will take part in “Grih Pravesh” of 11,000 houses built under PM-JANMAN, Oram said.
Union minister for food processing industries Chirag Paswan, who represented Jamui in the Lok Sabha twice before his brother-in-law Arun Bharti won the seat this year, reminded the people of the area that the PM was to visit the district for the third time since addressing rallies during the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year and the previous general elections in 2019.
