Keonjhar: Difficulties of a man who returned home in Keonjhar district after 15 years have not ended. Now, he has been kept in isolation on the advice of the village priest as his presence is considered to bring misfortune because his family conducted his last rites a few months back. The priest has suggested performing special pujas for the family to come out of the situation.
Chitrasen Dehuri of Tando village, who had left home as a teenager, was presumed dead after his father, Ayodhya Dehuri, received news in June 2023 that his son had died in a truck accident in Bhadrak. Following confirmation from the truck owner, the family performed the last rites of Chitrasen, who was a truck driver.
However, on Monday, officials from a Nepal-based Trust Board brought Chitrasen home safely. Sources revealed that he had fled to Nepal, suffered from mental illness and recovered under the care of an NGO at an ashram.
Block development officer Manas Dandpat stated, “I received information about his return but wasn’t aware of his isolation. I will discuss the matter with the sarpanch to solve it.”
