Ajit Pawar Clarifies Gautam Adani’s Non-Involvement in BJP-NCP Talks | – Times of India

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar/Nagpur: A day after he said in a video-recorded interview with The News Minute-Newslaundry that industrialist Gautam Adani was part of political talks held between BJP and NCP in 2019, Ajit Pawar said his statement had been “misconstrued.”
Speaking to mediapersons in Beed on Wednesday, Ajit Pawar said, “There seems to be some misunderstanding. He (Gautam Adani) is not even distantly related to the incident. I even said in the morning that you people are misrepresenting (the facts). He has nothing to do with politics.”
In the interview to the news portal, Ajit Pawar had said that the power-sharing negotiations happened just before he joined hands with BJP and formed a short-lived govt with Devendra Fadnavis as CM and himself as Deputy CM in 2019. “Amit Shah, Gautam Adani, Praful Patel, Fadnavis & (Sharad) Pawar Saheb… All were there,” he had said.
Meanwhile, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule said she was unaware of any meeting held in 2019 that involved her father Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, Gautam Adani, and BJP leaders Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the possibility of govt formation.
Sule, who was in Nagpur on Wednesday for a poll campaign, told reporters, “I want to add that none of us were even aware of the early morning oath ceremony. My husband, Sadanand Sule, woke me up to say ‘look at the TV and see what’s going on’. Nobody in our party is aware of any such meeting, or the oath ceremony. Hence, only Ajit Pawar can answer all your queries about the meeting.”
On Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s bags being checked twice in two days, she said govt is going after MVA leaders and selectively checking bags.
To a query on Ajit Pawar’s claim that some people were raising the emotional quotient by saying this was Sharad Pawar’s last election, Sule said, “Which enemy speaks like this? That this is saheb’s last election? No one should ever speak like this about anyone. It’s shocking if such a statement has been made. We should wish everyone a long life. I also want Narendra Modi to live for 100 years and more; that’s our culture.”
On Ajit Pawar’s public statement about being shown the irrigation scam probe report, in which his name figured, by Devendra Fadnavis, she said, “It was Fadnavis who raked up the issue in the 2014 assembly polls and became CM. At the time, Fadnavis took an oath of secrecy, yet he showed the confidential file to the same politician against whom you made the allegation?” She said, “Fadnavisji, you have to answer now. Is it not illegal to show a confidential file to a scam accused?”
