Patna: Railway Board chairman Satish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated a newly built state-of-the-art railway transit house built in Samastipur.
Kumar, who visited Bihar on Tuesday for a two-day visit, expressed satisfaction at the major steps taken by the East Central Railway (ECR) to tackle the huge rush of passengers during the post-festive period, Samastipur divisional railway manager (DRM) Vinay Srivastava said.
Kumar also inspected Samastipur station, running room, crew lobby and other amenities available on platforms for passengers. “He inspected the crowd management system and traffic operations at Samastipur station,” the DRM said, adding that he also interacted with the passengers waiting in the holding area.
According to the DRM, the chairman visited the newly installed ‘Jan Aushadih Kendra’ in Samastipur, which was incidentally inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday through videoconferencing from Darbhanga. “The Board has decided to attach four general coaches to each long-distance express train from December,” Srivastava said.
Kumar later visited Muzaffarpur station and inspected the ongoing station redevelopment work under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) and reviewed the safety measures around the station premises.
