Mumbai: AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday attacked PM Modi and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for referring to leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi as an urban Naxal for showing a red copy of the Constitution during his speeches. “It is wrong on the part of Modi and Fadnavis to equate a red book of the Constitution with urban Naxalism. I must tell people of India that Modi gave a similar copy of the Constitution to the then president Ramnath Kovind in 2017,” he said. He displayed a picture of the PM presenting the copy.
Fadnavis had said Gandhi was trying to seek support of urban Naxals and anarchists by holding a red book. ” The red book was only for reference, it was not the entire Constitution. It is not blank as claimed by Modi and Fadnavis,” Kharge said. — Prafulla Marpakwar
