Owaisi Accuses BJP of Diverting Attention with ‘Vote Jihad’ Comments | Mumbai News – Times of India
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday slammed BJP over its leaders’ “vote jihad” remarks and asked if they use the same language when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Arab countries.
While campaigning for party candidate Naser Siddiqui in Aurangabad Central, he accused BJP of diverting focus from core issues like farmer suicides. He said 324 farmers have died by suicide in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, but no one is talking about it. “Instead, [Devendra] Fadnavis (deputy CM) is remembering ‘vote jihad’. They are just targeting only one community. They should answer why they failed to ensure reservation for the Maratha community.” He appealed to Marathas, Muslims and dalits to stay united.
On charges that some NGOs are propagating ‘vote jihad’ in the state, he said anyone can campaign while abiding by the law. PTI
