Mumbai: An 85-year-old pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a bike at Powai on Friday. Padamsingh Nepali was crossing the road to head to a bank. A case of negligence and rash driving was registered against the motorcyclist at Powai police station.
Nepali and his wife live in Chandivli. Around 2 pm, a local informed Nepali’s daughter-in-law that he had been injured in a crash.
He was crossing the road near Lumbini Buddha Vihar at Powai when the bike knocked him down. He suffered head injuries and lost consciousness.
The biker helped him into an autorickshaw and moved him to a private hospital. The hospital officials said they were out of oxygen, and advised Nepali’s family to move him to Cooper Hospital, Vile Parle. The motorcyclist left.
Around 7.15 pm, when Nepali was taken to Cooper Hospital, he was pronounced dead. His daughter-in-law lodged a complaint. TNN
