823 people benefit from Chhapra night shelter | Patna News – Times of India
Chhapra: Although, several organisations have taken initiative to distribute blankets to the needy persons to cope with the biting cold, but the night shelter home set up on the Chhapra Sadar Hospital premises has not only been providing stay facility but also subsidized meals to those who are without shelter and have no option except to sleep under the open sky.
According to Chhapra Municipal Corporation sources, altogether 783 people got shelter here last month, while in the last three days of January about 40 persons have taken shelter in the stay facility which is also equipped with CCTV cameras. The civic body has set up a 50-bed shelter home on the sadar hospital premises. About 15-20 people take advantage of this facility every night. The shelter home is being maintained by women of a self-help group under the ‘Din Dayal Antyodaya Rashtriya Shahari Ajivika’ mission.

Sujit Kumar from Bihar appreciated the facilities at Chandigarh’s temporary night shelters, including the one near PGI, where he stayed during his sister’s kidney transplant. These shelters, equipped with essential amenities, offer secure accommodations with verification processes and sometimes admit those without documents upon police request. They remain fully occupied during the cold season.
