Mumbai: Eight months after a 56-year-old man from Santacruz East lost his life to a hit-and-run incident, Vakola police have registered an FIR. Police said an unknown motorcyclist had rammed into the victim, Peter D’Souza. Police registered a case of negligence against the unknown accused on April 29.
D’Souza lived near Golibar Maidan in Santacruz East. On July 27, D’Souza was near Hanuman temple between 2 am and 2.30 am when an unknown motorcyclist rammed into him. The motorcyclist did not take an injured D’Souza to a doctor but fled instead. D’Souza was rushed to VN Desai Hospital by one Rahul Anthony. He was admitted to the ICU. After his niece was informed about the crash, she moved him to Nair Hospital. He was under treatment till he passed away on Aug 14. Police said Dsouza’s niece refused to lodge a complaint against an unknown motorcyclist, which delayed the registration of FIR. tnn
