60 investor groups take part on first day of ‘Invest Kandhamal-2025’
Berhampur: Around 60 investor groups participated on the first day of the two-day-long ‘Invest Kandhamal-2025‘ meet at Daringbadi in Kandhamal district on Thursday.
Phulbani MP Sukant Kumar Panigrahi, who inaugurated the event, said, “This programme is aimed at the economic development of the tribal-dominated district to achieve Viksit Bharat and Viksit Odisha by 2047 and 2036, respectively, which is the goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Panigrahi appealed to the investors to open their businesses in Kandhamal, which has significant potential in different sectors like tourism, agro-industries and hospitality.
The district administration, which has organised the event for the first time, highlighted its potential in different sectors. “Kandhamal is famous for its organic turmeric and several other organic spices. Kandhamal haldi has been accorded the Geographical Indication (GI). Similarly, Daringbadi, known as the ‘Kashmir of Odisha’ for its cold climate, attracts several tourists from the country and abroad during the winter season,” administrative officials said.
Like Daringbadi, there are several other spots in the district that also attract tourists throughout the year, they added. The officers of different departments highlighted the investment potential in their departments in the district.
Kandhamal collector Amrit Ruturak assured the investors of extending all help from the administration for the implementation of the projects.
After the meeting, the investors visited the sites shortlisted by the administration for setting up the proposed projects. The administration has selected around 2,000 acres of land, including 170 acres in Daringbadi town.
The discussion with the investors would also be held on Friday.
