Time, or Kaal, in Hindi, is not linear. While most people think that time comes and goes, and that it never comes back to the same person, the scriptures say that time is cyclic.
According to the whole concept of Yugas that come, go, and then come again, the universe goes through repeating cycles, and each of these cycles spans thousands of years, and witnesses the rise and fall of humans, their nature, their successes and failures, and much more.
And so time and history do not just move forward, they come around as a loop.
