Hyderabad: Khushaiguda police arrested six people, including three minors, on Friday for assaulting a 16-year-old student to death near Radhika Crossroad in Kapra on Thursday evening. The deceased, who also worked part-time in catering, was a resident of Janmabhoomi Nagar in Pragathi Nagar. He had recently completed his Class X and was set to join Intermediate first-year at a college in Secunderabad. According to police, the incident occurred around 6:30 pm on Thursday when the victim and two of his friends were chatting in a lane adjacent to a wine shop at Radhika Crossroad.According to Kushaiguda Inspector L Bhaskar Reddy, “The group of youngsters, including two brothers, arrived on bikes and began assaulting the victim. They repeatedly punched and kicked him in the chest and stomach. They also attacked his friends when they tried to intervene.” The victim lost consciousness following the assault and was rushed to Life Line Hospital in Kapra, where he was declared dead.In her complaint, the victim’s mother said that her son was doing part-time catering work during the summer vacation. He had left home at 9:30 am after receiving a call from a friend about catering work at AS Rao Nagar. “At 7 pm, my son’s friends informed me that he was admitted to a private hospital in Kapra. When I reached there, doctors told me of his death. My son’s friends told me that he was assaulted by a group following an argument about a girl,” the complainant said.The Kushaiguda police registered a case under Section 103(1) (murder) read with 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS against six individuals. According to the police, the three minors accused were remanded to a juvenile home, while the three adults were sent to judicial remand on Friday.“Prima facie, the assault appears to have stemmed from an argument between the victim and a juvenile offender over the victim’s friendship with a girl from Safilguda,” the inspector said. The body of the teenager was handed over to the family after the autopsy on Friday. He is survived by his parents and two siblings.
