6 drown in separate incidents in state

Patna/Bhagalpur/Khagaria: Six persons, including four youths and two children, were drowned in separate incidents in Bhagalpur and Khagaria districts, while a girl was feared to have met watery grave in Patna district on Monday.
In Bhagalpur, four youths drowned in the midstream of the swollen Ganga river at Madhurapur Jahaz Ghat under Bhawanipur police station in Naugachhia sub-division in the morning.
The joint team of police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) with the help of local divers recovered bodies of the four youths, who were identified as Alok Kumar, Shivam Kumar, Sonu Kumar and Sanju Kumar. They were natives of Naya Tola locality in Naugachhia.
Police said on ‘pahli somwari’ (first Monday), a group of 11 youths went to take bath in the Ganga river.
Owing to strong current in the river, all were swept away.
As the news of drowning of the youths spread, a huge crowd gathered at the spot and informed the police. Local divers, SDRF personnel, Bhawanipur police team including SHO of Bhawanipur PS Mahesh Kumar, circle officer (CO) Vishal Agarwal and several other officials reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
Of the 11 youths, seven were rescued, but four lost their lives.
