57% Voter Turnout in Final Phase of PACS Elections: A Peaceful Conclusion in Patna | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: The fifth and final phase of voting for Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) units under Patna district concluded peacefully on Tuesday.
People of eight blocks of the district – Athmalgola, Pandarak, Bakhtiyarpur, Barh, Bikram, Mokama, Belchi and Goswari – exercised their franchise at 127 polling booths to choose the office-bearers of 49 PACS units. “One counting centre and a strongroom have been set up in each of the blocks,” said a district administration official, adding that counting of votes will commence from 8am on Wednesday. The fifth phase of polls saw a voter turnout of 57.29%, meaning only 41,544 voters of the total 72,518 went out to cast their votes.
“Sufficient administrative and police officers were deputed to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling and adequate number of officials has also been asked to stay vigilant during counting of votes on Wednesday,” said the official. Sub-division level administrative and police officers were also directed to stay active in their respective areas on the day of polling and counting of the ballots.
