Berhampur: Police on Wednesday arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly attacking an assistant revenue inspector (ARI) and threatening other staff of the revenue circle, including the revenue inspector of Lathi circle under Ganjam district‘s Berhampur Sadar police limits. The incident created a disturbance in the office on Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Rabindra Nath Bhuyan of Lathi. The broken spectacles of the ARI and a sharp weapon used in the attack were seized from the accused. “The accused was arrested based on the complaint of Sapan Kumar Sahu, tehsildar, Kukudakhandi, and prima facie evidence,” said SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M.
He said the accused went to the RI office with a land patta and demanded to see the plot on the map. Banita Patra, RI, however, asked him to apply for demarcation of the plot in the tehsil office at Kukudakhandi. He asked her to show the plot on the map. She asked him to come on another day. The accused once again came to the office and allegedly abused the staff.
