Mumbai: In a special operation conducted in the early hours of Sunday, Bandra and Kherwadi police arrested 52 motorcyclists and impounded their vehicles for allegedly racing and performing stunts at Reclamation and along Western Express Highway (WEH).
The enforcement action, conducted between Bandra Reclamation and Kherwadi Junction on WEH, focused on reckless riders who pose a risk to public safety.
On receiving notifications about motorcycle racing incidents on Bandra Reclamation’s Mount Mary Road and Western Express Highway in Kherwadi, the police control room promptly alerted the police stations concerned. While Bandra police booked 14 bikers under the relevant sections of the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act, Kherwadi police invoked the same charges against 38 offenders. The errant 52 bikers have been issued notices to present themselves at the police station concerned for further investigation. tnn
