5 peddlers held with contraband worth 1cr, main accused on run | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested five peddlers from Andhra Pradesh and seized 829 grams of a cocaine-ephedrine concoction worth 1 crore at Jaya Nagar in Kukatpally on Monday night. The main acused, Gunasekhar — an Armed Reserve (AR) constable from Tirupati who was deployed with the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Taskforce — is currently at large.In a joint operation, Cyberabad’s Balanagar Special Operations Team (SOT) and Kukatpally police arrested U Surendra (38), an unemployed man from Tirupati, and his friends D Haribabu Reddy (31), a private contractor from Bapatla, Ch Mercy Margaret (40) and Shaik Masthan Vali (38), who run a fast food outlet in Addanki, and Devaraju Yesu Babu (28), a private loan agent from Addanki. “The accused confessed that they had received the contraband from Gunasekhar, the primary accused. We will dispatch special teams to apprehend the duo,” said Balanagar in-charge DCP N Koti Reddy.“The accused were planning to sell the contraband for 2 crore in Hyderabad. Once our team arrests Gunasekhar, we will find out where he was sourcing the contraband from,” said an SOT official.
