471 persons arrested for chain pulling in East Central Railway crackdown | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: A special drive, ‘Samay Palan’, conducted by East Central Railway (ECR) from June 15 to 30, led to the arrest of 471 persons. Railway ticket-checking staff and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel targeted multiple locations under ECR’s jurisdiction, penalizing offenders under Section 141 of Indian Railways Act, 1989. Those unable to pay fines on the spot were sent to judicial custody.
Saraswati Chandra, ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO), said the ‘Samay Palan’ initiative aimed to eliminate alarm chain pulling (ACP) incidents on running passenger trains across all five East Central Railway divisions.“The Danapur division saw the highest number of arrests, with 218 persons detained for alarm chain pulling offenses, followed by Sonepur (72), Samastipur (98), Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (48), and Dhanbad (35).
Also, 892 people were arrested for illegally travelling in women-designated coaches.
