Puri: A four-year-old boy died in an accident in front of RTO office at Chakratirtha Road here on Friday after he was hit by a speeding vehicle. Ashu Das, son of Suryakant Das, from Begunia area in Khurda district, was rushed to the district headquarters hospital, Puri, by his family, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
According to family members, Ashu had come to Puri by train with his family to visit the Jagannath Temple. Before visiting the temple, they had gone to a relative’s house near the RTO. While Ashu was walking with a relative, he was hit by the speeding SUV. The grieving family held a protest with the child’s body. Police have arrested the driver.TNN
