Berhampur: Government Railway Police (GRP) in Berhampur registered four cases of unnatural deaths on Wednesday, following the recovery of three bodies from railway tracks at different locations and the death of a train passenger during treatment.
According to officials, the first body was identified as Laxmi Kant Durga (30) from Junagarh in Kalahandi district. His remains were found at Radhamohanpur near Kanishi. The second deceased, Banti Roula (21), a student at a private computer institute in Berhampur, was found near Golanthara in Ganjam district. Additionally, an unidentified body of a 45-year-old man was recovered near Sorala Junction. Police stated that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of these deaths.
In a separate incident, Asraf Ali (45), a passenger from Dakshin Dinajpur district in West Bengal, fell ill while traveling on the Duronto Express with his family on Tuesday. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his illness, police said.
Authorities have launched an inquiry into all four cases to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Further details are awaited as investigations continue.
