Mumbai: Four constables from Dharavi police station have been suspended after a video of them purportedly accepting bribes from hawkers and roadside vendors went viral on social media.
Constables Mahesh Pujari, Kashinathi Gajare, Gangadhar Kharat and Appasaheb Waghchaure, who were on patrol duty, were allegedly collecting money for not taking any legal action against the vendors, said a senior police officer, adding that it was an administrative decision to suspend them. “The period of suspension will be decided later. A senior inspector has been asked to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident and submit a report,” the officer said. tnn
