3 trains to originate from city’s new station

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to start three important trains from Bhubaneswar New station. These trains will also terminate at the same station. The trains are Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express, Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express, and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express. The date of implementation for these changes will be announced shortly, said an official statement of ECoR.
Bhubaneswar New station will help the ECoR reduce the burden on Bhubaneswar station. It can support like Anand Vihar Terminal station for New Delhi. In future, many south-bound trains will originate from this station, official sources said.
“The introduction of these originating trains from Bhubaneswar New station will provide immense benefits to passengers from the northern parts of Bhubaneswar and adjacent areas. These trains will also provide stoppage at Mancheswar railway station for two minutes each,” read the statement from the railways.
The station will serve as a convenient hub for students studying in engineering, medical, and other educational institutions located in north Bhubaneswar. Passengers requiring medical travel will benefit, as many hospitals are situated in this part of the city.
With these trains originating from Bhubaneswar New station, local residents will experience enhanced travel convenience and reduced congestion at Bhubaneswar main station.
To meet the demand, the railways is also undertaking several infrastructure developments at Bhubaneswar New station. Among these are expansion and improvement of circulating area, provision of an additional foot over bridge (FOB), modern waiting rooms and toilets, improvement of existing platforms and their illumination, installation of coach watering facilities, provision of lifts on all platforms, and upgradation of the existing station building.
