3 of family killed, 2 others as tractor turns turtle

Kendrapada: Three members of a family, including a teen, were killed and two sustained injuries after the tractor they were travelling in skidded off the road and overturned at Bahadurnagar village in Jajpur district on Saturday night. The deceased have been identified as Uchaba Dalei (64), his wife, Benga Dalei (62), and their 14-year-old grandson Durodhan Dalei, from Kalashree village.
Police suspect the accident was caused by rash driving. “Around 11.30 pm, the victims were returning to their village in a tractor after catching fish when the vehicle skidded off the canal road, turned turtle and plunged into agricultural land,” said IIC of Balichandrapur police station, Samarjit Nayak.
Locals shifted the five persons to the community health centre (CHC) at Barachana where doctors declared three brought dead. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy. Injured Sagar Dalei (18), driver of the tractor, and Chain Dalei (15) are undergoing treatment at the CHC, added Nayak.
