Koraput: Three individuals were arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old woman in Karada village in Rayagada district. The murder, believed to have been motivated by an alleged affair, occurred on Thursday.The deceased, identified as Ranjita Kandhagiri, was attacked with a wooden plank, leaving her critically injured. She was initially rushed to a local hospital in Ramanaguda and later referred to facilities in Gunupur and Paralakhemundi. She succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to Berhampur for advanced treatment.Police have arrested Madhab Patika, his mother, Dukhhi Patika, and his brother-in-law, Damba Kadraka, all residents of Rajvikrampur village. They have been booked under charges of murder and were produced in court on Saturday.IIC of Ramanaguda police station, Sunita Behera, said the murder stemmed from a dispute involving Akshaya Patika, a married man from Bhangi Chhaka village, who was allegedly in an extramarital relationship with Ranjita.“Akshaya had married a woman from Rajvikrampur, but was in love with Ranjita. When his wife discovered the affair, she informed his family. Enraged by this revelation, Akshaya’s elder brother, mother and brother-in-law allegedly assaulted Ranjita leading to her death,” Behera said.
