Bus collides with truck on NH-18 in Odisha, leaving 3 dead and 14 injured. Incident involved pilgrims traveling from Hyderabad to Gaya

NEW DELHI: At least three people were killed and 14 others sustained injuries early on Saturday when a bus collided with a truck from behind on National Highway 18 in Odisha‘s Mayurbhanj district. The incident occurred around 5.30am near Budikhmari Square under the jurisdiction of the Betanati Police Station. The bus, carrying around 20 pilgrims, was en route to Gaya from Hyderabad.
A senior officer mentioned, “One of the deceased has been identified as bus driver Uday Singh of the Charminar area of Hyderabad.”
The injured passengers were promptly transported to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for treatment.According to Additional District Medical Officer Bijay Kumar Das, the driver died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
“Fourteen injured people are under treatment at the medical college,” Das added.
The officer reported that the truck driver fled the scene following the accident.
