Rourkela: Police arrested three men on Friday for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a 15-year-old girl in Sundargarh district. The accused, including a 50-year-old fish vendor and two youths both aged 25, held the survivor captive for two days, police said.
The incident occurred on Dec 17 when one of the accused approached her near a railway station, offered food and took her on his motorcycle to a house. The girl was sexually assaulted by all three men over two days before she was abandoned at a place on Dec 19.
The survivor, daughter of a single mother who works as a housekeeper, was rescued by a police patrol team. Following her rescue, her mother filed an FIR on Thursday.
“We have arrested all three accused for abducting and gang-raping the minor girl,” said DSP Nirmal Mohapatra, zone-II, Rourkela. “Further investigation is ongoing.”
Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani said two special teams were formed to apprehend the accused, who were detained Thursday night. Medical examination of both the girl and the accused have been conducted.
Police sources said a test identification parade will be conducted as a part of the investigation.
