Bhubaneswar: Three people died and two others were seriously injured after two motorcycles collided near the right dyke of Hirakud reservoir in Sambalpur district on Wednesday.
Police suspect one of the bikes was speeding, which led to the collision.
The deceased were identified as Benudhar Bhue (18) from Singhpali village under Attabira police station limits, Chandan Meher (20) and Sampad Bhue (25) from Deheripali village under Ambabhona police station limits in Bargarh district.
The two injured were identified as Sampad’s wife and his sister. They are currently admitted at a private hospital, according to family sources.
Once the post-mortem is done on Thursday, the bodies will be handed over to respective families, said a police officer from Sambalpur district.
