3 cases against cement plant over coal bunker collapse
Rourkela: Tehsildar of Rajgangpur and assistant director of factories and boilers, Rourkela, lodged separate police complaints against Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited on Saturday evening, alleging negligence by the authorities leading to the coal bunker collapse which killed three workers.
Earlier on Saturday, family members of the three deceased lodged an FIR at Rajgangpur police station.”We have registered three separate cases and are investigating,” said M R Pradhan, inspector in-charge, Rajgangpur police station. Bodies of the deceased workers — Dasarath Patra (42), Sushanta Rout (58), and Ranjit Bhol (24) — were recovered on Saturday, nearly 40 hours after the rescue operation began.
Subhendu Rout, assistant director of factories and boilers, zone-III, has prohibited the company from operating the coal bunker and connected circuit of the power plant. He also directed that tests and examinations of the whole plant be carried out by an institute of national repute, preferably CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC), Chennai.TNN
