Balasore: Unidentified miscreants looted at least three temples in Balasore district late Wednesday night. The thefts occurred at the Lord Jagannath temple in Benuda under Kamarda police station limits, and at the Maa Sheetala and Goddess Kali temples in Jhakajhaki village under Bhograi police limits.Jewellery worth over two lakh rupees was reportedly stolen from the three temples.The miscreants broke into the Lord Jagannath temple by cutting the lock on the main entrance gate. They allegedly looted gold ornaments, cash from donation boxes, a microphone set, and an inverter. Villagers claim this was the third such theft at the temple in two years.Similarly, in Jhakajhaki village, the Maa Sheetala and Goddess Kali temples were also targeted. Locals said gold ornaments, valuables, and cash were stolen from both temples.Police teams from Kamarda and Bhograi reached the sites and began investigations. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and locals are being questioned. However, no arrests have been made so far.
