Ulhasnagar: Two children sustained minor injuries after a window grille they were playing in at their home on the second floor of an Ulhasnagar building gave way on Monday. They hit the ledge of the first floor window and landed on the tin roof of a shop on the ground floor.
Fire department officials said the family of Deepak Sharma lives in the flat in Hare Krishna Apartments. Sharma’s seven-year-old son and four-year-old daughter got into the grille and it collapsed soon after. After hearing thuds, a local, Ramesh, rushed to the spot, found the children on the shop’s roof and raised an alarm. Both children suffered minor injuries to their legs and hands. The boy also lost some teeth. Both are undergoing treatment.
Locals believe that the first floor’s window ledge lessened the impact of the fall.
