Bhubaneswar: A total of 29 personnel of state police, fire and emergency service, home guard and civil defence, and correctional service were awarded gallantry and service medals on Saturday.
The recipients were awarded in three categories — Medal for Gallantry (GM), President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
According to a govt statement, SP Saroj Kumar Samal and constable Satyabadi Mallick received the PSM.
Girish Chandra Majhi (sub-inspector), Pabitra Kumar Sahoo, Umesh Munda (havildars), Pitambar Satnami, Kabi Chandra Rout, and Susanta Kumar Sagar (constables) were awarded the GM. Eleven other personnel were conferred with the MSM.
