Patna: A total of 269 schemes for the renovation and rehabilitation of ‘Ahar Pyne’ (community-managed irrigation systems) have been proposed in the district, said Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh on Monday, while reviewing the progress of ‘Har Khet Tak Sinchai Ka Pani’ mission of the state govt. Out of these, 182 schemes will be executed by minor water resources department.
In the review meeting held here, the executive engineer of the minor water resources division, Patna, pointed out that 97 detailed project reports have been prepared for a total of 178 schemes.The district magistrate said that the schemes should be completed by March 2025, the target set by the state govt.
The progress of the private tube wells scheme was also reviewed when the executive engineers informed the DM that they have received applications for the installation of 1,947 tube wells in farms. Of them, 823 areas have been surveyed, while 408 farmers are not willing to get the boring done for the tube well, the DM was told.
Singh found that a total of 407 farmers have been given approval by the executive engineer for installation of borewells. He directed the officials concerned to run a campaign with the help of the district agriculture officer to motivate the farmers in this regard.
Tap water to every household scheme was also reviewed by the DM.
He said irrigation water to every field and tap water to every household are important schemes and all concerned officers should take special interest in its successful and timely implementation.
