26-Year-Old Man Arrested for Rape of 7-Year-Old Girl in Saharsa Amid Property Dispute | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Saharsa district. The accused, identified as Sanjeet Kumar, had been purportedly involved in a long-drawn property dispute with the survivor’s father.
According to the police, the incident occurred late Sunday when the girl was alone in her house. “Her mother visited her sister’s house in the Pipra area, while her father, a cart puller, had gone to their agricultural field to look after the crops.The accused, a neighbour of the girl, barged into the house and committed the crime. The parents became aware of the incident after returning home at night,” they said, adding that the victim’s father lodged a complaint regarding the matter.
Upon information, a police team arrived at the spot. A forensic team also visited the crime scene to collect samples. The survivor’s clothes were sent for forensic examination, while the girl was sent for medical examination.
SDPO Alok Kumar said, “Kumar’s agricultural land is near the victim’s house. There was an ongoing dispute between the accused and the victim’s father for a long time. The accused allegedly wanted to take possession of the victim’s house. He also allegedly threatened the girl’s father several times to vacate the space.”
The girl’s father told the police that he tried to catch Kumar, but the accused had fled, the SDPO said, adding, “Further investigation is ongoing in the matter.”
