24-year-old arrested for scaling pole, damaging CCTV cameras worth Rs 2.5 lakhs | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A 24-year-old drug addict was taken into custody on Tuesday for scaling a 20-foot pole and causing damage to four closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, resulting in a loss of Rs 2.5 lakhs. The Bandra police received a call at 8.45 pm from the West Control Room, alerting them about an individual climbing the pole located outside the Bandra Railway Station, where the cameras are installed, and destroying them.
Constable Navnath Gaikwad (52) and other constables from the Bandra police station who were on night duty arrived at the location and discovered that the man had already damaged the four CCTV cameras. “The accused identified as Salman Khan (24), climbed the pole after climbing through a wall which is close to it. He is a daily wage labourer and had consumed a narcotic substance while committing the offence,” said a police officer.
The accused has been charged by the police for damaging public property.
