Patna: A 22-year-old woman was killed after being hit on head by a heavy object allegedly by some unidentified criminals and her husband and father-in-law were injured during an attack on their house at Chandausi village under Gaurichak police station in Patna district in the early hours of Friday.
The family members of deceased Pooja Kumari, however, have accused the in-laws of killing her for dowry, which the latter denied.
Upon receiving information, Gaurichak police and Sadar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO)-2 Satyakam arrived at the scene and began an investigation. An FSL team and dog squad also conducted the investigation of the crime scene.
Satyakam said Pooja had got married to Neeraj Kumar around two years ago. “According to the in-laws they were asleep on Thursday night when around midnight, about six criminals broke into their house and started assaulting Neeraj. According to their statement, when Pooja tried to intervene, the criminals hit her on head. But Pooja’s family alleged that she was killed by her husband and in-laws over a demand for a car. They also alleged that she had been subjected to violence before,” the SDPO said.
