22-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Muzaffarpur: Allegations of Dowry Death | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: One Nikita Kumari (22) was found dead under mysterious circumstances late on Monday night at Malpur Agrail village under Sakra police station area in Muzaffarpur district. Her in-laws were found missing from the house. Her father alleged that she was killed for dowry.
On receiving the information, Sakra police arrived at the village, took custody of the body, and sent it to SKMCH for postmortem.
The victim’s father, Saroj Jha, said that Nikita was wedded to Ratnesh Kumar Jha from Malpur Agrail village in Muraul block on November 23 last year. He alleged that his daughter’s in-laws were pressurising her for dowry and demanded a motorcycle. Unable to fulfil the demand, his daughter faced harassment at the hands of her in-laws, he told the police.
Saroj told the police that on Monday evening, his son-in-law contacted him briefly, informing him about Nikita’s critical health condition before abruptly ending the call. Upon inquiring with local residents about his daughter’s health status, they learned of her death.
Rural SP Vidyasagar said the deceased’s husband is employed in a finance company. “Initially, the case appears to be suicide, though the family hasn’t submitted a formal complaint yet. The police will take prompt action after receiving an application,” he said.
