Balasore: A 20-year-old woman drowned in a pond at Bhogadia village under Barhampur police station limits in Balasore district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Bandita Mohanty, a resident of Sindhia village under Sadar police station limits in the district.
Police said she had gone to visit her maternal uncle’s house in Bhogadia village for a few days when the accident took place.
According to reports, Bandita went to the village pond on Monday morning, along with her maternal aunt to take a bath. But she accidentally slipped and fell into the water. Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it for a postmortem. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
