Bengaluru: Two first-year BSc students drowned in the Suvarnamukhi temple pond inside Bannerghatta National Park on Saturday evening. They are identified as Deepu and Yogeshwar, both aged around 19, studying at a private college in Hebbugodi. By evening, Deepu’s body was recovered, and police said they would start the search operation for the missing Yogeshwar on Sunday.
Residents of Garvebavipalya, Deepu and Yogeshwar, along with three more friends, waded into the water in the late afternoon.

“According to the three others, all of them were playing in the pond when Deepu slipped and started drowning. Yogeshwar, in a bid to help him, went into the deep waters, and both drowned,” Bannerghatta police said.
