Rourkela: Two men and a minor girl were killed after the bike in which they were travelling was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Chungi gate in Sundargarh district on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Dilip Sanmati (24), Saharei Lakra (20) and Anjali Kusuma (14), all residents of Jalangbira village under Birmitrapur police station limits. Dilip and Saharei were daily-wage earners, sources said.
Sources said the three were returning to their village after visiting the Vedvyas fair in Rourkela when the accident occurred. Dilip and Saharei died on the spot, while Anjali sustained critical injuries. Officers from Birmitrapur police station, including inspector in-charge R P Nag, spotted the three victims lying on the road. They shifted the two men and the girl to Rourkela Govt Hospital (RGH) in a police vehicle, where doctors declared Dilip and Saharei brought dead. Anjali succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
After getting information, family members of the deceased reached RGH. On Sunday, Turia Lakra, father of Saharei Lakra, lodged an FIR at Birmitrapur police station about the death of the three individuals. Police have registered an accident case and started investigation. They have seized the bike and are trying to identify the vehicle that hit the two-wheeler.
Post-mortem was conducted on Sunday afternoon, and their bodies were handed over to their families.
